Happy Birthday to the United States Air Force (USAF)
The United States Air Force (USAF) turns 72 years old today. On September 18, 1947 Chief Justice Fred Vinson swore in Stuart Symington as the first secretary of the air force which officially founded a new branch of the U.S. military. Gen. Carl A. Spaatz became the first USAF’s chief of staff eight days later.
The United States Air Force (USAF) is the aerial and space warfare service branch of the Unites States Armed Forces. It is one of the five branches of the United States Armed Forces and one of the seven American uniformed services.
Touchstone Living is a huge supporter of our military branches and would like to send a very heartfelt thanks to the brave airmen who have been protecting our skies and keeping us safe since 1947. A special thank you to our local branches – Nellis Air Force Base and Creech Air Force Base.
